Abandoned Buildings of Massachusetts-A Walk through with Tom Sheehan
Filed Under (Arts) by Fisher

Most of us think that history is all about big forts and palaces. But what we forget is that even small abandoned buildings are a part of our history. Photographer Tom Sheehan has brilliantly captured the splendor of buildings from the eras gone by. Tom Sheehan is a skillful photographer who lives and works in Norwell, Massachusetts. His love for the places history and architecture can be seen in the photographs he has taken.

His website is like a gallery featuring his works. The photographs are divided in different galleries with each picture described properly. This makes the viewing easy and fun. He starts off with the photographs that he has taken on Paddocks Island of the deserted buildings which form a part of the old and decrepit Fort Andrews Army Base. The deserted Officer’s quarters, Sergeant quarters and other buildings belonging to the fort have been captured by him. Since the place has been closed to the public due to unstable structural condition of the buildings and asbestos pollution these photographs may be the last one showing the architecture and beauty of the place.

He has also taken pretty pictures of the abandoned rope mill situated at Cordage Park in Plymouth, Massachusetts and Hatch Saw mill at Union Street in Marshfield, Massachusetts. The old ship yards situated in Norwell along the North River which were famous for building historical ships like Columbia have also been shot by him.

To understand the history of Massachusetts and look at some of the best photographs of old deserted buildings a visit to his website is very important.
